I get irritated when people say that they don't bother with coupons or pay attention to store savings because the only deals are for packaged and processed food. I take advantage of both and paid less that $40 for this week's groceries. Do any of my meals sound like junk?!

- Sunday: chicken salad sandwiches (I serve mine on a multi-grain bread and make a few modifications to the recipe based on personal preference.)

I'm definitely incorporating Monday's dinner & moscow mules into my menu for the week. Just bought feta, have potatoes and mint in this week's produce box. Perfect.
I am super duper impressed!! Spending only $40 at the grocery store takes some effort!!
Way to go
Delighted Momma
The Moscow Mules and sweet potatoooooo are in honor of Oprah's farewell episode. More on that later! :)
Will you come buy and cook for me? I live off porridge, cake from cafes and the salad bar at the supermarket and everything you make sounds lovely. <3
I KNOW! I mean, who doesn't have TIME to save money?! And honestly, it only takes me about 30 minutes to gather what I need throughout the week to save money on our Saturday grocery trip.
I'm sad though because we had these slick coupons that are "$5 off a purchase of...." coupons, and now Publix isn't accepting that competitor. Have to find another way to shave off an extra $10 instantly. :/
What deals do you use?
Erin: You could totally become a smart grocery shopper and excellent cook! Just takes practice. :) None of the recipes that I love are difficult (nothing by Emeril!) I'm going to think about my easiest/ no fail one and e-mail it to you!
Hannah: I did a "Grocery Day Questions and Answers" post back in early January--

You might find some extra tips, but sounds like you're already a believer and follower of saving money on food. :)
Eek I am going to try Onion soup ASAP and post the results :D Thank you for your help!! Also it made me grin when you called me a 'grasshopper' :D Oh my goodness Ned the turkey wears some major cool threads :P

This is amazing!!! And inspiring! I didn't realize just how MUCH you can save through coupons, but I will definitely be using them now. It's worth the little bit of extra time!
How funny - that steak salad is on my meal plan this month! I love cheeky kitchen and that recipe caught my eye. Let me know how it was!
The meal was delicious Maria! The dish looks fancy, but is so easy and inexpensive to make. Plus, as I noted to Joey, we covered two servings of veggies, protein in the meat and walnuts, plus dairy from the cheese. I love a fresh, healthy, and balanced meal!
Note: Be VERY careful when using the oven broiler! The tomatoes and the olive oil pop, and I had a scary little flame moment. My top rack put the pan extremely close to the top of the oven and the heat bars. Next time, I think I'll go down a notch. :)
ah, i love and dearly miss Publix!
thanks for sharing that asparagus, feta, and steak salad idea. that looks amazing! i like the feta substitute as well, just because i'm not very much of a gorgonzola fan.
