Leeving

On Saturday night, a group of people got together to "celebrate" something that we did not want to celebrate— Our English friend, Lee, going back to his home country.

Lee is perfectly suited for coming to a community, state, and country where he knew no one.  Joey and I were his first American friends, but in the short time that he's been here, he's cultivated relationships with a broad range of people.  Even more special is the fact that we're all a broad range of personality types and backgrounds.  Lee is just that type of guy.  He enjoys people.  He's open, and funny, and smart, and charming.  None of us were really saying goodbye.  The smarty pants has applied to a PhD program at Georgia Tech, and I have no doubt that he'll be accepted and return to us.  He's an honorary Southerner.  Our favorite ginger, with the accent that gets us tables in restaurants.  ;)
